Government

Barbados politics functions under the framework of a constitutional monarchy and a parliamentary government. Freedom of: speech, press, worship, movement and association are some of the constitutional safeguards which Barbadians enjoy.

The political system is dominated by two main parties, the Barbados Labour Party and the Democratic Labour Party.

• Head of Government: Prime Minister David Thompson
• Cabinet: Appointed by the Governor General on the advice of the Prime Minister
